Facilities Technician

Summary:

The Facilities/Maintenance Technician actively participates in the maintenance activities required to support Agency residential, outpatient and administrative facilities.  This activity includes equipment and machinery (including HVAC), lighting systems, grounds keeping, security, overall facility appearance and Agency owned/leased vehicles. This position requires interactions with all levels of management and personnel to identify and resolve maintenance issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program schedule for all facilities and any applicable equipment and machinery. 

  • Maintain HVAC equipment, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems.

  • Routine facility owned vehicle inspections.

  • Daily travel to and from Connecticut Renaissance buildings (Norwalk, Stamford, Bridgeport, Waterbury).

  • Maintain safe and sanitary work conditions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local building, fire and safety codes.

  • Knowledge of essential trade skills, including plumbing, electrical and carpentry. 

  • Knowledge of security systems (fire, access control, cameras, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of Food Service equipment and processes.

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Good communication skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work and make decisions independently. 

  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Possible working conditions may require working in hot and cold climates. 

Education and Experience:

Education:

  • High School diploma required; Trade school certification is a plus. 

Experience:

  • Eight years related work experience. Other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered.
