Summary:
The Transportation Case Aide is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and professional transportation services for residents in the Residential Treatment Program. This role ensures clients are transported to medical appointments, court appearances, community resources, employment interviews, and program-related activities. The Case Aide also supports residents by reinforcing program expectations, modeling appropriate behaviors, and maintaining a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide safe and timely transportation for residents to and from designated appointments, activities, and program services.
Monitor resident behavior during transport, reinforcing program rules and appropriate social skills.
Conduct vehicle safety inspections before and after each transport to ensure proper functioning and safety.
Maintain accurate records, including mileage logs, trip reports, and gas card receipts.
Ensure vehicles are properly maintained, clean, fueled, and stocked with safety equipment.
Communicate promptly with program staff regarding resident attendance, behavior, or incidents during transport.
Assist residents in accessing resources by providing support and encouragement during trips.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions as assigned.
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA, agency, and state regulations.
Support program goals, outcomes, and performance measures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic vehicle safety checks and routine maintenance.
Strong engagement and motivational skills when working with residents.
Ability to manage and de-escalate difficult situations using crisis-intervention techniques.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record-keeping.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to balance safety and empathy while transporting clients.
Familiarity with community resources and services for individuals in treatment preferred.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
One to two years of experience transporting individuals, preferably in human services, residential treatment, or juvenile/adult programs.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
Bilingual in Spanish or Creole preferred.
Other Requirements:
Dependable, reliable, and detail oriented.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Must be able to meet physical demands of the role, including sitting for long periods, lifting up to 20 pounds, and assisting residents if necessary.
Successful completion of probationary employment period required.
