Part Time Security Officer

Summary

The Part-Time Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors within the Waterbury West residential treatment facility. This role is responsible for monitoring the premises, responding to incidents, enforcing facility policies, and assisting with crisis situations in a professional and supportive manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor entrances, exits, and overall facility grounds to ensure safety and security.
  • Conduct regular rounds inside and outside the facility, documenting observations and reporting any safety or security concerns.
  • Enforce facility rules and regulations in alignment with organizational policies.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, and alarms.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate incident reports.
  • Support visitor management, including check-ins, identification verification, and ensuring authorized access only.
  • Collaborate with staff to promote a safe, respectful environment for residents.
  • Contact law enforcement, emergency services, or supervisory staff when required.
  • Always uphold confidentiality standards and professional boundaries.
  • Escort employees to cars as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in security, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
  • Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred, especially in residential, healthcare, or treatment settings.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
  • Strong communication, observation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time, evening shifts 4pm-6pm or 10pm-12am weekend, and/or holiday shifts as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct rounds for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
